Cheese Cones Pastry (Kono Cheese) ❤️
For the dough:
- 3 cups flour
- 1 tablespoon instant yeast
- 2 tablespoons sugar
- ½ cup warm water
- ½ cup liquid or powdered milk
- ½ cup butter, ghee, or oil
- A pinch of salt
- 1 teaspoon vanilla
For the filling:
- White cheese
- Parsley
- You can also use any filling you like, such as tuna, chicken fajita, or sausage.
For brushing the top:
- Egg yolk
- A pinch of instant coffee
- A pinch of vanilla
- 1 tablespoon milk
Instructions:
- In a bowl, mix the flour with warm water, milk, yeast, and sugar, stirring until you get a smooth dough.
- Cover the mixture and let it rest for 15 minutes. Then, add the dough, butter, and a pinch of salt. Knead for about 7 minutes, cover, and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
- After the dough has risen, roll it out into a large rectangle and cut it into long strips. Take each strip and shape it into a cone.
- Brush the cones with egg yolk, make as many as you can, and let them rise for 10 minutes. Brush again before baking them in the oven at 180°C (350°F).
- Once cooled, fill them with cheese and garnish with parsley. Enjoy!
Optional: You can sprinkle sesame seeds or nigella seeds on the dough before baking. Instead of parsley, you can also use shredded Cheddar or Romano cheese.
Bon appétit!
