Cheese Cones Pastry (Kono Cheese)

Cheese Cones Pastry (Kono Cheese) ❤️

For the dough:

  • 3 cups flour
  • 1 tablespoon instant yeast
  • 2 tablespoons sugar
  • ½ cup warm water
  • ½ cup liquid or powdered milk
  • ½ cup butter, ghee, or oil
  • A pinch of salt
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla

For the filling:

  • White cheese
  • Parsley
  • You can also use any filling you like, such as tuna, chicken fajita, or sausage.

For brushing the top:

  • Egg yolk
  • A pinch of instant coffee
  • A pinch of vanilla
  • 1 tablespoon milk

Instructions:

  1. In a bowl, mix the flour with warm water, milk, yeast, and sugar, stirring until you get a smooth dough.
  2. Cover the mixture and let it rest for 15 minutes. Then, add the dough, butter, and a pinch of salt. Knead for about 7 minutes, cover, and let it rest for another 30 minutes.
  3. After the dough has risen, roll it out into a large rectangle and cut it into long strips. Take each strip and shape it into a cone.
  4. Brush the cones with egg yolk, make as many as you can, and let them rise for 10 minutes. Brush again before baking them in the oven at 180°C (350°F).
  5. Once cooled, fill them with cheese and garnish with parsley. Enjoy!

Optional: You can sprinkle sesame seeds or nigella seeds on the dough before baking. Instead of parsley, you can also use shredded Cheddar or Romano cheese.

Bon appétit!
